It all started when…

Errol Pierre has been promoted to Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Commercial Business at Empire BlueCross BlueShield, an Anthem Company. With over 15 years of health care experience, he is accountable for profit/loss, sales and retention for the Individual business lines. Additionally, he provides strategic and operational direction for the company and the 3.5 million members it serves. Those responsibilities include the oversight of enrollment and billing, claims, and customer service activities as well as driving local marketing and community and corporate responsibility strategies. Errol actually began his career in health care Empire BlueCross BlueShield as an intern in 2003.

Prior to returning back to Empire, Errol spent 5 years at Healthfirst, the largest Medicaid and Medicare health plan in New York City and Long Island serving close to 1.4 million members. He left as the Vice President of Medicaid and Commercial Markets where he launched various products including the Qualified Health Plan (QHP), the Essential Plan (EP), the Health and Recovery Program (HARP), and the Commercial EPO products sold through Healthfirst’s commercial insurance subsidiary, which he spearheaded.

A Bronx, New York resident, Errol graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Health Policy and Financial Management from New York University. He is an adjunct professor for Molloy College teaching Health Economics in their Healthcare MBA program.

In his spare time, Errol volunteers for various non-profit organizations. He serves as a board member of the West Side YMCA. He is a board member of One Hundred Black Men of Long Island and serves as the chair of the Health & Wellness Committee. He is also a proud member of National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE). In 2014, Errol was recognized as one of The Network Journal’s 40 under 40 for his volunteer efforts. In 2015, he was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year for the YMCA of Greater NY and awarded the Percy Allen, II Healthcare Award from the NY Chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE).
