What advice would you give your younger self or students / early careerists coming into healthcare?

My advice would be to respect yourself and others. I would suggest healthcare workers early in their career always strive to study hard to deliver the best care to all patients. As you start off in healthcare there will be many choices you confront with successes and failures but you can learn from your experiences. Love yourself and live with confidence, your choices reflect in your positive behavior. Major point - keep your focus on what is most important to you in life. For me, the most important center of my life is my family.

What made you get into healthcare?

I have always been intrigued about medicine and the healthcare field as a fast-paced and exciting career choice. Working in orthopedics and healthcare administration gives me the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.

Also, in the healthcare field you get to collaborate with various other disciplines, including the top scientists, administrators, researchers, nurses, physician assistants and doctors for the betterment of the patients.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to travel to the beautiful beaches on different islands for a little rest and relaxation. It relaxes my mind and soothes my soul. I find myself sitting on a beach reading a book or enjoying the water is peaceful and I can mentally escape from work.

I also enjoy researching my family background & roots. It’s a long term and ongoing project I’ve been working on for the past several years. With family input and the Internet research, I have found family members dating back over 200 years ago.
