What was your decision behind joining NAHSE?

I learned of NAHSE fresh out of graduate school at a time when I needed guidance with the next steps of my career. Being a member of NAHSE has been significant to my growth as a healthcare leader and I value the connections and friendships I have made due to its existence. It has been inspiring to see people who look like me in my career and in the positions I aspire to reach. Representation truly matters!

What has leadership been like during Covid-19?

With news constantly changing on the Covid-19 crisis and its effects, I have to be able to sift through all the information coming in and relay what’s important to my staff and the physicians I work with. At a time where there is a lot of fear and confusion, it is vital to remain levelheaded and action oriented as a healthcare leader. The focus needs to remain on making sure our patients receive the care they need, and their issues are properly addressed. I have worked to stay positive and optimistic and make sure my staff feels appreciated and understand that I see the hard work they are putting in during these times.

What is one fun fact about Christine?

Growing up I wanted to be an OB/GYN and although I found my calling within healthcare administration, I have always had an interest in maternal health. One of my goals this year is to work with organizations structured to improving black maternal health issues and decreasing the barriers for black women to obtain quality healthcare. In my spare time, I enjoy a good brunch.
